Veteran Iditarod musher Riley Dyche (bib #16) of Fairbanks, Alaska, scratched at 8:15 a.m. today at the Iditarod checkpoint.

Dyche made the decision to scratch in the best interest of his race team.

Dyche had nine dogs in harness at the time he made the decision to scratch.
