Nome, Alaska – Tuesday, March 13, 2012 – Veteran Iditarod musher Gerry Willomitzer (Bib# 23) of Whitehorse, YT, Canada scratched in Unalakleet at 08:55 Alaska Time.  Willomitzer made the decision to scratch because his team wasn’t enjoying the trip. Therefore, he decided to end his 2012 Iditarod attempt in the best interest of his team.  He had 12 dogs on his team when he made the decision.
