Nome, Alaska – Tuesday, March 13, 2012 – Veteran Iditarod musher Kirk Barnum (Bib# 47) of Grangeville, Idaho scratched in Kaltag at 14:30 Alaska Time.  Barnum made the decision to scratch because his team wasn’t enjoying the trip and therefore decided to end his race in the best interest of his team.  He had 10 dogs on his team when he made the decision.
