Jessie Royer into Koyukuk in 7th place. Lot’s of excitement going on at the front of the race. Aaron Burmeister is pushing in a long run to Kaltag and will serve his mandatory 8 hr layover there. Jeff King is en route to Kaltag, he has done both his 8 and 24 hr layover. He will be out of Kaltag much before Aaron.
I can see Jessie trying to push a long run through the night coming up here. She is hungry to do well. Jessie has always been in the Top Quarter standings in Iditarod, but could usually not be found this far up front at this point in the race. She is driving a big string and she is willing to work hard.
She said ” I have not seen you in a couple of days “, that is a good sign, meaning I have not been in her way. We tried to travel the trails, when the mushers are resting. Her Team was pretty animated, they barked at the strange sight beside the trail.
