4 30 AM, Mitch Seavey in lead to White Mountain
Mitch Seavey leads the pack into White Montain with Aliy Zirkle working like a wind mile with her ski poles about two miles behind, according to our Insider camera men. Talking to our guys at the checkpoint, we loosely understood the Mitch Seavey has been leading through the night, moving on a trail that just never set up. Therefore, Mitch and Aliy and the following teams have been wallowing slowly through sugar snow.
King , according to our guys, is moving well but was very cautious, often stopping to rest and feed his team. Our internet connection has been weakly intermittent at best, but a few here in the comm center think King is about ten miles back from Seavey and Aliy. Our camera guys agree there was a big space between the front pack mushers.
At the moment, the checkpoint has cleared to walk down the hill to the dog parking area on the ice of the Fish River.to look for the first musher.
