The Cold Zaps You!

Watching Jeff King bedding down his dog team, it was showing that he was cold and tired. Running dogs for 11 and half hours in 40 below or more is tough. Every little task is magnified by the cold. You have to think twice about taking your gloves off to do some chores, as once cold, it is hard to warm up the fingers again with no external heat source. Jeff’s dogs looked solid coming in, yet they were ready for a rest. They eagerly curled up on the straw.

Scare crow?
Jeff make sure his dogs sleep comfortable

Jeff has a system where he leaves 2 dogs on the neckline and the next 2 on the tug line, so they can sleep in groups of 4, instead of 2 by 2. His team seems to enjoy that. There are 4 piles of 4 dogs. Yep, Jeff  still has all 16 dogs he started with, very impressive.

Oh yes, I DID find my Koyukuk armchair!
