Biography

I am the youngest of the original Mackey family. I moved back to Fairbanks because some of the best dog trails are here in the interior. I have been married to Lisa Mackey since March of 1992. We have two adult sons; Patrick Mackey, 34 and Jason Mackey, 32. Patrick races sled dogs also, and has since he could stand on the runner. This will be the year to see Patrick in the race circuit more. Patrick is engaged to Tiana Taylor and they have a two-year-old daughter Opal, my granddaughter. Jason works in the oilfields and resides in Anchorage on his off time. I work in Fox, Alaska for Black Gold Transportation. We have 45 dogs, most of them Lance and Jason Mackey kennel bloodlines, along with kennel lines from Marrs, Osmar, Gebhart and Seavey, some of the greats. My team will be five this year, in the prime of their career. We have raised them from birth and are very excited, and with the proper training they will be a ‘rock star’ of a team.
