Biography

Born in Washington State, Josh McNeal, 31, moved to Alaska full-time in 2013 and never looked back. He graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2017 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He now lives in the hills of Ester with his wife Jobie, their one-year-old daughter Jane, and their 35 dogs. When he’s not on the runners, Josh owns and operates 907 Oil with his business partner, Matt, balancing life between the trail and the oilfields of Texas.

Josh returns to the 2026 Iditarod with a renewed fire after being forced to withdraw before the race in 2024 due to a severe shoulder injury. Determined to finish what he started, he’s excited to be back on the runners and ready for the challenge ahead.
