Biography

My name is Kevin Hansen. I’m an Inupiaq Alaska Native, born and raised in Kotzebue, AK. I currently work as a Physical Therapist at the Maniilaq Health Center in Kotzebue. My parents have owned a small sled dog kennel since the early 80’s, so I grew up with sled dogs. My father (Paul Hansen) ran and finished the Iditarod in 2017. That same year I ran my first Kobuk 440 race (best finish 2nd place 2025). Over the last 4 years I have been training the team and entering races. The Iditarod has been something I’ve wanted to do since childhood. I’m finally ready to tackle the race and excited to travel across the state on this historical trail.
