Biography

I’m Chloe Beatty, a Minnesota-born dog musher living in Alaska and preparing for my first Iditarod. My twin sister and I grew up on a farm dreaming of becoming veterinarians and racing the Iditarod together. Today she’s pursuing veterinary school, and after years of training and qualifying, I’m chasing the other dream with an incredible team of sled dogs. It all began with my first sled dog, ‘Lucky’. A Cocker Spaniel with far more enthusiasm than pulling ability, she somehow convinced me we belonged in dog mushing. Before mushing I competed in college gymnastics until injuries unexpectedly ended my career and redirected my path back to sled dogs. Looking back, it was the detour that led me exactly where I was meant to be. Outside of mushing, I’m a self-proclaimed, free-range human who spends summers living out of my van paddling the Boundary Waters with my family and lifting weights, because at 4′ 10″, it feels like a practical life skill.
