Robert Bundtzen scratches at Elim checkpoint

Veteran Iditarod musher Robert Bundtzen (bib #54) of Anchorage, Alaska, scratched at 4:49 p.m. today at the Elim checkpoint. Bundtzen received outside assistance from three snowmachiners and in accordance with rule 31, he scratched. Race marshal Mark Nordman spoke with the race judge in Elim and confirmed Bundtzen and his race team are fine. He had 14 dogs in harness at the time he made the decision to scratch.
