Iditarod Headquarters Readies for Winter

It’s that time of year again…  and just like around your house this time of year, Iditarod Headquarters gets ready for the winter season.

DSCF0114Iditarod Headquarters, located in Wasilla, is open for visitors all year long, but in mid September, we begin our winter hours.  We are open from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.

If you’ve visited Iditarod Headquarters in the summer or spring, you’ve no doubt noticed the two large planters filled with beautiful plants that hang above the entry to our headquarters building.  In September, these planters are moved from the outside of the building to the inside, and used as decoration throughout the winter months.

Although dog cart rides are only offered in the summer months, there is still plenty to see when visiting Iditarod Headquarters.  Visitors to headquarters during the fall and winter have the opportunity to surround themselves  in Iditarod culture when viewing the trophies, artifacts, and memorabilia that adorn the inside of the building.  A visit to headquarters  a step back in time as well as a glimpse into the future of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.  Visitors can also purchase items from our store.  Both vintage and current merchandise await you!  If you can’t visit us in person, you can still shop with us by visiting our online store.

If you are in the Wasilla area, stop by for a visit!  Our address is 2100 S. Knik-Goosebay Road.  We hope to see you!
