Insider 2.0

 

Iditarod Insider 2.0 offers a glimpse into the lives of Iditarod sled dogs and the people who engage with them every day of their lives.

 

They are lives full of energy, activity, and wellness. We visit with those that spend their summers on the glaciers, to others that spend their days near their wilds of Denali, and all stops in between. Insider 2.0 sets out to take you inside their lives, far from the trail and a look at a life of joy, camaraderie, and a level commitment that has few rivals.

She’s a rookie in this years Iditarod and it’s been a long time coming for Brenda Mackey.  The daughter of 1983 Champion Rick Mackey, Brenda has dreamed of running this race since she was 5!  And in 2021 she’ll finally get her chance.

He’s a former cowboy from Oklahoma and now he’s a professional on the runners!  Hal Hanson cut his teeth in a sprint dog kennel and now he’s been working towards a dream of finishing the Iditarod. Mitch Seavey has employed Hal the last 3 years and now it’s Hal’s time to live his dream!

We went out on a training run with Martin at his Kennel in Big Lake, Alaska. The October morning was crisp and it was a great time to chat with this mountain of sled dog knowledge. From genetics to training and can he win again Martin is very revealing in this conversation.
