Aaron Burmeister just came off a close to 4 hr rest at the 20 Mile cabin ( which is 23 miles from the checkpoint ). So he has no choice but to go through Koyukuk. He briefly stopped right before getting off the river, and we had a short chat. He seemed to regret not having gone all they way straight here.
He is worried of going through the heat of the day. Heat is relative though, my thermometer on the iron dog says minus 23 Celsius, that is near minus 10 F. It is not really hot, but the sun in beating down. It should be a short run for Aaron over to Nulato. He is the 4th team into Koyukuk and the 2nd team out behind race leader Aliy Zirkle
Here some river shots: Enjoy!
