Musher Details

I grew up in Alaska and fell in love with the state and being in the Alaskan bush. Spending time with my dad building log rafts to sell wood to the villages on the Yukon, and trapping, fishing and hunting on the mighty river. With that I grew up hearing my dad’s stories, and from old timers about using dogs for traveling and racing which inspired me to become a dog musher. I’m really inspired to run the Iditarod by looking at my dad’s finishing plaque from Iditarod back in his runs in 1981 and 1983.

Before I turned 18, I bought my first dog, Annie, from the village of Tanana. She was out of the Lester Erhart yard. She was an amazing dog, a better dog than I knew what to do with at the time. She had three litters of pups which became the building blocks of my kennel, now of 35 dogs (yearlings, adults, old timers). It’s been a wild ride to get here! A lot of blood, sweat and tears!
