Two mushers scratch in Galena, Linwood Fiedler and Martin Massicotte

Veteran Iditarod musher Linwood Fiedler (bib #8) of Willow, Alaska, scratched at 1 p.m. today at the Galena checkpoint. Fiedler made the decision to scratch in the best interest of his race team. Fiedler had 14 dogs in harness at the time he made the decision to scratch.

Rookie Iditarod musher Martin Massicotte (bib #2) of Saint-Tite, Quebec, Canada, scratched at 5:58 p.m. today at the Galena checkpoint. Massicotte made the decision to scratch in the best interest of his race team. Massicotte had nine dogs in harness at the time he made the decision to scratch.
