After a short rest in Unalakleet the veteran musher left the checkpoint just before 3 Sunday afternoon. His team responded to his whistles and headed toward Shaktoolik.

Richard has quite a history with the race both as a musher and as a volunteer. He’s been a loyal volunteer and the King of Kaltag when the race comes through each year. He was honored by the State of Alaska today in Kaltag.
