Kim Kittredge, 41, was born in Maine. He and his family relocated to Massachusetts where he attended elementary school through high school. He earned a business degree and served six years in the Army National Guard. An avid mountaineer and hiker, Kim was drawn to the mountains in Alaska and moved here in 1992. He has made three ascents of Denali as well as numerous lesser known peaks throughout the state. He has enjoyed the Iditasport and Susitna, 100, both midwinter 100 mile human powered races. He’s competed in the Fireweed 400 bicycle race and participated in multiple ADA Tour De Cure bicycle events to raise money for Diabetes research. With his sense of adventure and knowledge of extreme conditions and immense love of dogs, mushing was a natural fit. In 2003, he began helping his friend, Sue Allen, prepared her team for the 2004 Iditarod. Since then, they have become kennel partners and share the expense, time commitment and joy of building a racing kennel in Houston, Alaska. Kim is a Network Engineer for MTA in Palmer. His other hobbies include sailing, skiing, hockey, cycling, hunting, fishing, and “pretty much anything outdoors.”
