Behind the Scenes – Bed of Straw  An important part of the race is played by volunteers who help with a multitude of activities that surround the race including helping to bag straw that is sent to the checkpoints.

Behind the Scenes – Trail Stakes  Each year, the Iditarod Trail is lined with trail markers as a means of charting the route for mushers to follow during the race.  This video, from the 2006 Insider Archives, tells about how these stakes are made and used during the race.  

Behind the Scenes – Stu Nelson, Lead Vet  This video clip is from the 2006 Insider archives and introduces viewers to Chief Vet, Stu Nelson.  Viewers can learn general information about the goals of the vet team and what it takes to be one of the vets.  Stu works hard with his team of vets who rely on the mushers to be part of the ‘team’ that brings quality dog care to the race.
