Another Trail Word Tuesday has arrived for you! This one spotlights Hunter Keefe.  A native of Michigan and always wanting to be a dog musher, Hunter moved to Alaska to train under Nic Petit. Adding a lot of hard work, putting dog care first, and a never-say-die attitude, he went on to work for Raymie Redington.  In 2023, alongside his dogs owned by Raymie, Hunter crossed the Iditarod finish line in an impressive 11th place on his rookie run.  Forced to scratch in 2024 and a broken leg in 2025, incidents have kept him from finishing again.  We can’t wait to see what happens in the future with this always-happy, always-smiling, competitive musher, Hunter Keefe!  -Hunter Keefe

“The spirit of Iditarod to me is a celebration of our 365 day a year commitment to our dogs. When I’m on the Iditarod trail I’m constantly reminding myself to be grateful for all the work that myself and others have done for me to be there. Mushing is more than a sport but truly is a lifestyle that takes 100% commitment from the musher. And of course when we are on that trail we are committed to getting to Nome.” -Hunter Keefe
