This month’s lesson is called “A Letter from the . . . Trail,” and although it is Language Arts focused, there are many different paths that can lead to other areas. In the lesson plan above, check out the Enrichment section to see how science, math, or social studies teachers can tie this into their content too. There are even ideas to make this lesson adaptable for all abilities included in the Enrichment section. The Common Core standards are listed for the Middle School/Junior level, but there is a Puppy and an Adult Mode also listed on the lesson plan. In this month’s lesson plan, I have fully packed your teaching sledbag. You will find attachments and links under the Teacher and Student Materials section for everything from a RAFTS prewriting activity, Scoring Sheet, Good News Gram, and a Musher’s Glossary.
