Our Trail Word Tuesday of November features rookie musher, Matt Randall! This competitor owns and operates Rock On Racing out of of Caswell, Alaska. Unfortuantely, an injury kept him from racing the Iditarod this past year. He was born and raised in Michigan on the family farm where he gained his love of animals, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. For 25 years Matt has made his home in Alaska with his wife, Casey, two children, AddieAnn and Thale, and nearly 50 dogs. All are involved in competitive mushing!  Take a look at these inspiring and wise words from Matt Randall!

“For me personally, “mindset” really stuck out.  As a musher we have to be in the right mindset, 100% of the time.  We need to remain focused, upbeat, and positive.  We need to provide proper nourishment and hydration (mindset of a nutritionist), watch for soreness or injury (mindset of a veterinarian), plan out how to give our dogs the best chance of having an amazing run (mindset of a race strategist) and, of course, we need to keep the mindset that the dogs and musher are all doing this for fun!”   -Matt Randall
