And They’re Off!!!

Hello friends,

Paws are officially on the trail! The running of the 45th Iditarod began today (Monday, March 6) in Fairbanks, Alaska. There were lots of smiles and tail wags under a clear, blue sky as my K-9 friends started down the trail in the -12°F temperatures. As of this writing most teams are in or near Nenana which has a population of 378 people. BowWow! 1,152 dogs are there – come on math-mutt-ticians – how many more dogs than people?

Mushers reported that the trail was great and the weather perfect for the dogs. Teams are all bunched up at this point of the race, but this is just the start. We have many more days of race watching and I know I’ll have my eyes on the tracker to follow my favorite teams.

Lots of my school friends have chosen a favorite musher. Who are you following?
