The Burled Arch Is Getting Closer

Hello friends,

The 2025 Iditarod Sled Dog Race is still going strong, and my K9 friends are smelling the finish. 2 days ago I pawed about the number of women in this year’s field of mushers. As of this writing there are 3 women in the top 5. Awooooo! Girl Power! Another exciting fact right now is that the top 3 teams are only 11 miles apart. Currently Matt Hall is in the lead, but the teams of Jessie Holmes and Paige Drobny are right at his heels. This is a close one folks.

Speaking of Jessie Holmes, he was the first into Unlakleet so he won the Ryan Air Gold Coast Award. For this, the team was awarded gold nuggets worth about $1500.00. That should buy lots of food, blankets, and booties for dogs to share.

Not only has the weather been great for this leg of the race, the night skies have been putting on quite a show. The Aurora Borealis, otherwise know as the Northern Lights have been spectacular.

Keep watching K9s and humans. This is going to be a great end of race. Go dogs go!
