White Mountain

Hello friends,

Why does it seem like teams are pawsed in White Mountain? The weather! Nature can be incredibly unpredictable, especially the weather. 9 teams (93 K9s) are currently resting in White Mountain because of cold weather and high winds. There is a Cold Weather Advisory and -21° F feels like -47° F, but it has been as cold as -60° with the wind chill. 372 paws should be leaving White Mountain sometime Friday to make the 10ish hour trip to Nome. We dogs like the cold, but the humans can easily get frost bite, so best to stay put until it’s safe.

In other news, we now know that Paige Drobny was the first woman to cross under the Burled Arch in 9d 15h 38m 48s with 10 K9s. Awooooooo Paige! Rookie of the Year goes to Jesse Terry who finished in 10d 13h 36m 3s with 12 of my K9 friends. Congratulations Jesse!

Keep watching as the 9 teams from White Mountain make their way to the Burled Arch in Nome.

Tail wags,

Zuma
