Hello friends,
“Joar Leifseth Ulsom, welcome to Nome!” This was the announcement overheard in the streets of Nome at 3:00 AM Alaska Time. Woowoowoooo! It was a nice looking dog team of 8 dogs that crossed the finish line. They had smiles on their faces and tails in the air.
Joar won over $50,000 and a new truck. This was his 6th Iditarod, but probably won’t be his last. Lead dogs Resseren and Olive wore yellow roses at the finish line to celebrate their win.
Rounding out the top ten are: 2nd Nicolas Petit, 3rd Mitch Seavey, 4th Ray Redington, Jr., 5th Pete Kaiser, 6th Richie Deihl, 7th Jessie Holmes, 8th Ramey Smyth, 9th Travis Beals, and 10th Linwood Fiedler. We’re still waiting for our first woman musher to cross the finish line. Aliy Zirkle, Jessie Royer, and Michelle Phillips are running within a few miles of each other. Who will cross under the Burled Arch first?
Stay tuned race fans!
Tail wags,
