My name is Zuma and I am Iditarod’s Official K-9 Journalist. It is exciting to be the lead journalistic dog and be a part of the team of reporters that will bring lots of exciting information to classrooms around the world. Gypsy, Sanka W. Dog, Libby, and I will be writing articles all year long. We’ve lots of stories to tell you about Alaska, Iditarod, mushing, places along the Iditarod Trail and oh, about our K9 friends, too!
First, I am a reporter and a journalist. I do not pull a sled or run any races.
In my younger -puppy years, I did pull a sled with my fur friends just for the fun of it. It helped me to learn more about mushing. I enjoy spending time with my fur friends, but don’t look for me to join any mushing teams. My goals don’t include doing any racing because I am a reporter first and foremost. Exercise is important to staying healthy, though, so I’ll be on trails taking hikes whenever I can!
You can learn more about me and the rest of the K9 Journalist team at this link.
Boys and Girls, we want you to have fun learning in school. One way to have fun is to go on lots of adventures. We know when you read our stories and articles, it will be like going on adventures with us. So, what do you say? Pack up your gear! Bring your camera, binoculars, your bed roll, your imagination, and even a good book. We’re going on an ‘awesome – paw-some adventure’. We’ve stories to share and we’ll take you ‘there’!
So, let me hear your best H O W L song! Nice and LOUD! Loud enough so your principal hears your howl-song!
So, get ready and read, read, read, and tell your friend’s, “This is PAW-SOME!”
Woof, woof, H O W L S O N G !
Lots of Tail Wags,
Zuma
