Zoom Lens – Junior High Jumper

The big news for the last Saturday of February is the Junior Iditarod. Fourteen teams left the starting line at Knik Lake for the 75 mile run out to Yentna Station. The trail was fast and teams reached the half way point one right behind the other. After a ten hour rest, they headed out for the 75 mile run to the finish at Willow.

Teams take off from the start in two-minute intervals. The Zoom Lens feature today comes from the Junior starting line during the two-minute countdown. Maybe dogs that are seasoned race veterans understand what one-minute means, thirty seconds, ten seconds then 5-4-3-2-1-GO! This dog is excited and perhaps will consider high jump as another athletic career.  Click to enlarge the photo.

Stay tuned for another telephoto story tomorrow. In the meantime remember that beauty is not in the guidebook nor adventure on the map – seek and you’ll find.
