Iditarod Scavenger Hunt

Tails from the Trail

Kaci Murringer at 17th Dog in Willow Alaska

As Kaci Murringer entered the chute in Nome on March 22nd, the 2020 Iditarod officially ended.  The Widow’s Lamp was extinguished and the Red Lantern, a symbol of perseverance, was awarded to Kaci. She persevered through rough weather, extreme cold, and across 1,000 miles of some of the most amazing scenery.

With the 2020 Iditarod over, it doesn’t mean that we should stop incorporating the Iditarod in our classrooms.  For most, we are teaching in a whole new way, digitally.  Distance Learning is the new normal for much of the remainder of the academic year. Using the Iditarod Education website is a great resource to use during this time.  There are many amazing lessons that can be easily distributed to students to use at home.

One way to keep your students engaged in the Iditarod while learning digitally is to use this 2020 Iditarod Website Scavenger Hunt.
