In some places, school will be starting in just over a month and your middle-schooler is likely to be involved in some novel studies if they haven’t already been given summer reading.  Our Middle Grades fiction and non-fiction recommended book lists have some excellent examples of people and animals overcoming hardships and challenges and discovering something important about themselves in the process.  They are good reads with great messages.
