March 15 2017 Morning Update

Hi Boys and Girls,

Mitch Seavey is the winner of the Iditarod. He arrived into Nome yesterday afternoon at 15:40 AST. He has a new record time of 8 days 3 hours 40 minutes and 13 seconds. Congratulatins to Mitch.

 

 

 

 

Four more teams have arrived into Nome. Dallas and Nicolas arrived 5minutes apart placing 2nd and 3rd. The picture on the left is from Jeff Shultz and shows Dallas and Nicolas congratulating each other at the finish line. Wade Marrs has left Safety and should be into Nome shortly. At least 7 more teams should arrive this morning. Actually there is a total of 22 teams either out of White Mountain or in White Mountain. It looks to be a busy day in Nome today!

Rookie Report

Currently in the Rookie of the Year Position is Sebastian Vergnaud who is in 22nd Place. He is in White Mountain. Robert Redington is in 23rd place and is also in White Mountain. They are 16 minutes apart. Looks like there will be a race for Rookie of the year!

A check on some of the other rookies show, Nicolas Vanier in 36th place and he has left Koyuk. Laura Neese is in 43rd place and she is in Koyuk.

Nome- It is -3 degrees, clear with 4 mph winds
