Mitch Seavey First into Huslia

Hi Boys and Girls,

In this mornings update I told you about Mitch Seavey. I have a little more information and some pictures that I would like to share with you. Mitch arrived first into the Huslia checkpoint. Huslia is the halfway point in the race this year. For being first Mitch received a trophy and $3000 in gold nuggets.

Mitch also received a special gift from one of the local elders. It was a beautiful pair of gloves with nice beading and beaver. What a nice gift. I bet they are super warm and I’m sure Mitch will enjoy them.

Mitch was also greeted by a group of school children. They were able to talk with Mitch, see the dogs, and watch Mitch snack his team. Huslia was an added checkpoint this year due to start being in Fairbanks. The race has only gone through Huslia three times. So this is very exciting for the village. I bet those school children really enjoyed their visit with Mitch.

The team was given a check up buy the checkpoint vet. The dogs were given snacks during the check up. I hope they were salmon snacks. Those are my favorite and I bet the favorite of most of his team.

Hope you enjoyed this little update and pictures.

Happy Trails,

Gypsy
