Zoom Lens – As the teams left Yentna

When the first Junior musher, Conway Seavey left Yentna Station at 02:08 the night sky was cloudy. At 04:45 when Nicole Forto, the final musher out of the checkpoint departed, the clouds disappeared, the stars shown brilliantly and as northern lights danced into the sky, an orange quarter moon rose over the tree lined riverbank opposite the roadhouse. Perhaps Mother Nature was trying to make up for the lack of snow by dazzling the young mushers with the beauty on the morning run back to Happy Trails Kennel. At 02:08 the temperature was 20 degrees. When the last musher left and the sky had cleared the temp had dropped twenty degrees and was at an even zero.  Ashley Guernsey boots her wheel dog to leave at 02:39.
