The last time I was in Fairbanks was the summer of 2004. It was 105 degrees. There was exactly 110 degrees difference from then to today although it warmed up to 5 above. Folks totally enjoy the “race” aspect of Iditarod and folks enjoy the dogs. The fact is, folks come out to see the Siberians. They love the handsome dogs. Lev Shvarts is heading into Nenena this afternoon when I snapped the shot.
What’s the secret of getting a shot like this? There are two and I must give Jeff Schultz credit for sharing them both. First, get down on your belly and shoot from the ground. Second, find a corner so the dogs come straight at you then turn.
