I’m not talking about my best canine friend, SPOT, I’m talking about the GPS tracking device that Junior Iditarod and Iditarod mushers will be using while on the trail. In the past, the tracker that was attached to the Iditarod sled was the size and weight of a brick. It sent signals up to satellites making it possible to track the mushers along the trail and determine their speed. Advances in technology are amazing. The tracking device that will be used this year is a bit different. It’s so small, it fits inside a medium sized dog bootie and weighs mere ounces.
