Zoom Lens – Wheel Dogs

Hampsters have Hampster Wheels, Humans have Tread Mills and dogs have Phydeaux’s Pherris Wheels. As the wheels turn the users exercise. These Siberians at Jon & Jona Vanzyle’s kennel have put plenty of miles on the Phydeaux model featured in this Zoom Lens. There are advantages to being able to get a lot of aerobic exercise in a small area.

Other mushers use the Phydeaux Wheel too and there are some great variations. Similar models are in place at Martin Buser’s kennel and Jeff King’s kennel. Both Martin and Jeff use these wheels in their puppy training. Think about teaching a dog the command WHOA. If they hear WHOA and then the wheel is actually stopped they can associate the command with the action of stopping and eventually they’ll understand what’s expected.

Stay tuned for another telephoto story tomorrow. Look for the beauty around you and always be open for adventure.
