IditarodEDU Black Transparent

Ceremonial Start? Restart? Huh? What’s that all about?

Libby Here!  Hello Boys and Girls!

The 2019 Iditarod will start on Saturday, March 2 and Restart on Sunday, March 3.

Two kinds of starts?  What’s that all about?

Well, boys and girls, the start is really a ceremonial start.  That means it’s a big celebration, almost like a parade.  Don’t you just love parades?  I do!  I do!  I do!!!

AND the next day, well, that’s called the restart.  That’s the day the race REALLY starts.  When a musher leaves the starting line, the clock – or racing time starts and the real race is on!  Oh boy!  Oh girl!  I can’t, can’t, can’t, wait!  How about you?

Just spinning some ‘de-tails’
