I’m just spin, spin, spinning with excitement today!  Anyone who’d see me would think I was chasing my tail.  I’m just so happy and excited because today is a fun and special day for all of the Iditarod mushes and friends.  Today is the day that the mushers take the stage at the Musher Drawing Banquet and ‘draw’ for their starting positions.

The Musher Drawing Banquet is held at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage.  After a big meal, each musher will be called to the stage in the order that they are listed on the website.  That order is the order that they signed up for the race.  Most of the time, mushers take a few minutes to thanks their sponsors, friends, and family members before putting their hand in the boot and drawing out the number that indicates the starting order.
